I wasn’t powered by a will to “transform” the world with a pen/ keystroke, when I became a journalist. Nor did I dream of exposing criminals Watergate style. It was more basic…I was tired of being told to look the other way when “things” happened. The sense of powerlessness was depressing. Though I haven’t written anything yet that has changed laws or lives, I am happy to be discovering new, untold stories everyday.
Before J-school, I used to work with India Today magazine, in its Delhi bureau. In this teeming metropolis, I used to cover culture, food, entertainment, youth, art and a host of other topics. But I gave it all up to learn the newer skills of my craft and get an international overview of my profession. Nothing excites me more than the promise of new knowledge.
When I’m not asking questions, I can be found reading, traveling or experimenting in the kitchen.
